1. Definition or description of podcasting.
A podcast can be described as being an audio broadcast that has the ability to be played back for listeners. People can subscribe to podcasts to listen to on MP3 players or another audio device. They can be used in lectures, radio, music, etc.
2. How I will use podcasting in my classroom.
I will include podcasting in my lectures in order to make them more interesting. I will use them as a method of differentiated instruction. I will also include assignments that students will have to record and create podcasts in order for their assignments to be submitted. Furthermore, a way in which I will have my students use podcasting is in poetry. In class, I watched a poetry lesson using podcasts and the students learned more about the rhythm of poems by reading them aloud to create a podcast. They were able to create the podcast and read back the beats the poem created. This is a fun and different way to help the students learn the curriculum.
3. Pros and cons of podcasting.
A con of podcasting is that it may be difficult to obtain the equipment necessary to use podcasts, especially in the classroom. In other words, the resources may not be available to use them. A pro to using podcasts is that it is a different and fun way to implement different instruction into the classroom. It is also something that students can learn to use themselves.
