Reflection on Ethics

1. Definition/description on ethics.
Ethics are standards that determine whether an action is good or bad. Everyone has different ethics according to their personal morals, beliefs, and standards.
2. How will ethics affect my work as a teacher with my students and my colleagues?
I will need to make ethical decisions on what my students are introduced to in my classroom. I will also have to make decisions according to my administration, students' parents, and community and what they believe is either ethical or unethical.
3. Pros and cons of being concerned with ethics.
A con of being concerned with ethics is that if a teacher wants to use something in a lesson, he or she may not be able to if it interferes with his or her personal ethics, the administration, parents, or community.
A pro of being concerned with ethics is that students will not be in contact with immoral or distasteful content in their curriculum. Parents and administration can be assured that unethical decisions are not being made in the classroom.
