Current Use of Technology in the Classroom

The use of technology in classrooms is a very important advancement education has made. The current use has improved greatly throughout the years and has only helped students succeed more in their educational experiences. One form of technology that I remember using a lot in high school was the overhead projector. This was useful because it helped students see better what the teacher was explaining and teaching. Also, since it came in the form of a preprinted paper or worksheet, it saved preparation time for the teacher. Unfortunately, in high school I did not get to experience the technological phenomenon of the Smartboard. I have used it sparingly in my past field experience at Lehman Middle School and I think it would have assisted me as well as my teachers in my earlier education. It is an amazing tool and the possibilities are endless. Technology is a powerful weapon the educators should become for familiar with in teaching their students because it gives them another tool to learn with that is more interesting and not as boring as textbooks. Teachers should know it and use it.

  1. I completely agree, Bree. Technology is incredibly important and should continue to be integrated into the classroom. At my high school, the math dept. had SmartBoards and they helped so much! The teacher didn't have to stand in front of the class to write, which was a big help. I guess we should just keep hoping and praying that we'll have advanced technology in our classrooms! :)
